A Traditional Sunday School for Children
From 2:30 - 3:30pm every Lord's Day, Meeting at the Alloa Town Hall
Over 400 children have attended the Sunday School in the last 15 years. We take a professional approach and use fully qualified teachers and support staff with (collectively) over 25 years experience working with children for various councils (including Stirling, Falkirk and Clackmannanshire) in a variety of roles, from Acting Head to Supervisory Assistant. We are fully provided for with regard to audio/visual equipment.
All children join a class which is specially designed for their age group with its own regular teacher. Each week the children receive a lesson from the Bible. The Sunday School follows the Lessons for Life four-year, structured course of lessons. Children receive a weekly Bible Learning Course leaflet which indicates what is being taught. Overall attendance during a year is awarded with a prize at the Sunday School Prize-Giving. We encourage children to learn the Children’s Catechism and award children as they progress through the 8 levels. This year we are studying Part 1 - God, Creation, the Fall, and the Covenant of Grace.
Children who regularly attend are invited to the Games Club from 6:30 to 7:30pm on Thursday nights (except for school holidays). During the year the activity venue is normally at the Town Hall, Tommy Down’s Room but occasionally else where. Whenever there is a venue change, parents will be notified and permission sought.
The church operates a Child Protection Policy in accordance with Government guidelines and the Child Protection Scotland Act 2005. All adults in a position of responsibility within the Sunday School have undergone a Disclosure Scotland (Enhanced) check. Our Child Protection Policy is available for inspection during the Sunday School meetings.
